Our Mission

Provide high-quality prehospital emergency medicine and public safety support services to the residents, employees, and visitors of the Town of Shelburne. Through our work we promote civic service, community, and pride in the Town of Shelburne and the members of our organization.

Our History

Shelburne Rescue was founded in 1984 and was originally operated in coordination with Burlington Fire Department serving as volunteer first responders without an ambulance. In 1988, Shelburne Rescue purchased it’s first ambulance and the squad has been growing ever since.

Today, Shelburne Rescue is a combined volunteer and carreer department providing ALS (Advanced Life Support) 911 emergency services to the Town of Shelburne and surrounding communities such as Charlotte, Hinesburg, and South Burlington in coordination with our mutual aid partners.

In 2024, Shelburne Rescue made the transition from staffing at the maximum level of Advanced-EMT, to Paramedic. Shelburne Rescue hopes to provide 24/7 Paramedicine to the community and welcomes new and experienced clinicians.

The Town of Shelburne, located just south of Burlington, VT, is home to about 7,000 residents. Our current squad consists of 30 members who respond to over 1450 calls per year, and we expect this number to keep growing.

Our Mutual Aid Partners

Whether its through joint operations or providing coverage when we are unable to take the call, our mutual aid partners play an important role in serving the Shelburne community.

Shelburne Rescue is fortunate to serve alongside our partners from the following agencies.
